Thailand visa changes in 2026: the full timeline
Dated, in reverse order. Each entry names the instrument behind it, so you can check it against your embassy's advice.
15 September 2026
Visa-free stay cut from 60 to 30 days
Four Ministry of Interior regulations published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026 came into force: the 60-day exemption for 93 countries ended, 60 countries and territories get 30 days, Visa on Arrival shrank from 31 countries to three, and Mauritius and the Seychelles got a new 15-day tier. Arrivals up to 14 September keep their 60-day stamp.

Land entries capped at two per year
Visa-exempt entries over a land border count against a limit of two per calendar year. Air arrivals are not capped. Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore are exempt.

Arrival auto gates open to 33 nationalities
Suvarnabhumi's arrival auto gates accept 33 nationalities with a filed Digital Arrival Card, a previous visit and visa-free entry.
7 June 2026
Cambodia: stay cut to 7 days, land crossings restricted
During the border dispute Thailand closed most land checkpoints with Cambodia and cut the visa-free stay for Cambodian passport holders to 7 days. Air travel is unaffected.

Digital Arrival Card mandatory for every foreign passport
The TDAC replaced the paper TM6 card. Filed online inside the 72 hours before arrival, free on the Immigration Bureau's portal, checked by airlines and immigration.

60-day exemption for 93 countries (repealed)
The scheme most 2025 travellers used. Replaced on 15 September 2026; guides that still quote 60 days are out of date.
