Extending your stay in Thailand: 1,900 THB, once
Thirty days visa-free can become 60. A 60-day e-Visa can become 90. The extension is a routine desk procedure, as long as you apply before the stamp expires.
Who can extend
Visa-exempt arrivals with a 30-day stamp and holders of a tourist e-Visa can apply once for an extension of up to 30 days. The 15-day tier, the 14-day treaty stays and Visa on Arrival cannot be extended. Treaty entries with 90 days are handled case by case.
Where, what and how much
Any immigration office in Thailand. Bring the passport, a copy of the photo page and the arrival stamp, two passport photos, form TM7, and 1,900 THB in cash. Most offices issue the new stamp the same day. In Bangkok the office at Chaeng Watthana handles the largest volume; Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Koh Samui have their own offices.
Overstay
Overstay costs 500 THB per day, capped at 20,000 THB, paid at the airport on departure. Overstays beyond 90 days lead to entry bans of one to ten years. An extension applied for the day before the stamp expires is far cheaper than one day of overstay.
Border runs
Leaving and re-entering to reset the stamp is no longer a plan. Visa-exempt land entries are limited to two per calendar year, and repeated air entries are questioned and can be refused. For more time, use the e-Visa or the DTV before you travel.

Every foreign passport holder files the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) inside the 72 hours before landing, whatever the visa status. It is free on the Immigration Bureau's portal. Assisted filing checks your details and emails the QR code, US$29 per traveller.
