Thailand visa for Bahrainis 2026: 30 days visa-free

What changed for Bahrainis on 15 September 2026

Before 15 September 2026, Bahraini passport holders landing in Thailand were stamped in for 60 days on a visa-free basis. A Ministry of Interior regulation that took effect on that date cut the allowance to 30 days for Bahrainis, while leaving the visa-free arrangement itself in place. If you were stamped in before 15 September, your passport keeps the 60 days that were written into it at the time; the new 30-day limit only applies to entries from that date onward. For a trip you're planning now, this means building your itinerary around a single month rather than two: book return or onward travel inside the 30 days, and treat any need for extra time as something to arrange rather than assume.

Before you fly

• Check that your Bahraini passport has at least six months of validity left on the day you land in Thailand, plus one blank page for the entry stamp.
• Have proof of onward or return travel ready, since immigration officers can ask for it alongside evidence that you'll leave Thailand within your 30-day stay.
• Carry accessible funds of at least 20,000 THB per person, or 40,000 THB for a family, in case officers run a spot check on arrival.
• File the Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours of landing; it's free, required for every Bahraini traveller regardless of visa status, and its QR code gets scanned at immigration.

Staying longer than 30 days

If 30 days isn't enough, Bahrainis can apply for a single extension of up to 30 days at an immigration office inside Thailand, for 1,900 THB, before the existing stamp runs out. For a longer single visit, applying for an e-Visa at thaievisa.go.th before you travel gives Bahraini passport holders 60 days on one entry, also extendable once for 1,900 THB. Those planning remote work or a long course of study over months or years can look at the Destination Thailand Visa instead. What doesn't work as a strategy is leaving Thailand and re-entering to reset the clock: land crossings on a visa-free basis are capped at two per calendar year, so repeated border runs aren't a reliable way to extend a stay.

At the airport

At Suvarnabhumi, Bahrainis aren't among the nationalities allowed to use the automated fast-track gates, so you'll go through the Foreign Passport counters with an immigration officer instead. Have your passport and the QR code from your Digital Arrival Card ready to show; officers scan the code to pull up the details you already submitted online, then check your passport and stamp you in for your 30-day stay. Keep the confirmation until you land, since it needs to be filed within 72 hours before arrival.
