Thailand visa for Croatians 2026: 30 days visa-free

What changed for Croatians on 15 September 2026

Until 14 September 2026, Croatian passport holders arriving in Thailand without a visa were stamped in for 60 days. A Ministry of Interior regulation, published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026 and in force from 15 September 2026, cut that allowance in half. Croatians landing on or after that date now receive a 30-day stamp instead. If you were already stamped in before 15 September, your passport keeps the original 60 days — the new rule only applies to entries from that date onward. For a short holiday, 30 days is usually still enough, but if you were planning a longer stay in Thailand based on the old allowance, you'll need to check the extension and long-stay options, since border staff will no longer grant 60 days on arrival to Croatians.

Before you fly

• Check that your Croatian passport has at least six months of validity left on your arrival date and still has a blank page for the entry stamp.
• Keep evidence of onward or return travel accessible, since immigration officers checking your visa-free entry may ask for it alongside your accommodation details.
• Carry proof of at least 20,000 baht in personal funds, or 40,000 baht for a family, in case Thai immigration carries out a spot check on arrival.
• Submit the free Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours of landing, whatever your entry route, and if you choose the e-Visa instead of the visa-free stamp, apply at least ten working days ahead to allow for processing.

Staying longer than 30 days

If 30 days isn't enough, Croatians have several legitimate options rather than repeated border crossings. Inside Thailand, you can request one extension of up to 30 days at an immigration office, for 1,900 baht, before your stamp expires. If you know beforehand that you'll need more time, applying for an e-Visa at thaievisa.go.th before travelling gives Croatians 60 days on a single entry, also extendable once by 30 days. Remote workers or long-course students can consider the Destination Thailand Visa, valid five years with 180 days per entry, though it requires proof of substantial funds and must be arranged outside Thailand. With land-border visa-free entries capped at two a year, border runs aren't a workable way to stay longer.

At the airport

At Suvarnabhumi, Croatians aren't among the nationalities allowed to use the automatic arrival gates, so you'll go through the Foreign Passport counters with an immigration officer instead. Have your passport and the QR code from your Digital Arrival Card ready — it's scanned at the counter alongside your passport before you're stamped in. Filing that arrival card online in the 72 hours before landing applies to every Croatian passport holder, regardless of which visa route you used to enter Thailand.
