Thailand visa for Estonians 2026: 30 days visa-free

What changed for Estonians on 15 September 2026

Until 14 September 2026, Estonian passport holders entering Thailand without a visa were granted 60 days on arrival. A Ministry of Interior regulation published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026 shortened that to 30 days for anyone arriving from 15 September 2026 onwards. If you were stamped in before that date, the 60 days already in your passport still stands, so check the date on your arrival stamp before assuming which rule applies to you. For future trips, plan around a single month rather than two: book onward travel, accommodation and any activities inside that 30-day window, and remember that this shorter stay is now the standard entry for Estonians unless you apply for a different visa in advance.

Before you fly

• Make sure your Estonian passport is valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date in Thailand and has at least one blank page left for the entry stamp.
• Have proof of onward or return travel ready to show, since the 30-day visa-free stay is tied to arriving and leaving within that window rather than settling in indefinitely.
• Carry enough funds to cover a spot check, since immigration officers can ask Estonians to show 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB for a family travelling together.
• File your Digital Arrival Card in the 72 hours before you land, since every Estonian entering Thailand must submit it regardless of visa status, and keep the QR code handy.

Staying longer than 30 days

If 30 days is not enough, Estonians can apply for a single extension of up to 30 days at an immigration office inside Thailand, for 1,900 THB, submitted before the original stamp runs out. Another option is applying for an e-Visa at thaievisa.go.th before you travel; processing typically takes three to ten working days and grants a single-entry stay of 60 days, extendable once more by 30 days on the same terms. Estonians planning remote work or a long course of study can look into the Destination Thailand Visa, valid for five years with 500,000 THB in funds and 10,000 THB, filed from outside Thailand. Repeatedly leaving and re-entering to reset the clock does not work, since visa-free land crossings for Estonians are capped at two per calendar year.

At the airport

At Suvarnabhumi, Estonians are not among the nationalities allowed to use the automated e-gates, so head for the Foreign Passport counters instead when you land. An immigration officer will check your passport and scan the QR code generated when you filed your Digital Arrival Card, so have that ready on your phone or printed out. Keep your passport details, onward plans and proof of funds in mind, since officers can ask further questions before stamping you in for your visa-free stay.
