Thailand visa for Georgians 2026: 30 days visa-free

What changed for Georgians on 15 September 2026

On 15 September 2026, Thailand's Ministry of Interior changed the visa-free allowance for Georgian passport holders. Until 14 September 2026, Georgians arriving without a visa were stamped in for 60 days; from 15 September 2026 that allowance is halved to 30 days, under a regulation published on 31 August 2026. If you were already stamped into Thailand before 15 September 2026, your passport keeps the original 60-day permission until it expires — the new rule only applies to entries from that date onward. For a trip you're still planning, this means building your itinerary around a single month rather than two, and checking your entry date carefully if you are travelling close to the changeover.

Before you fly

• Make sure your Georgian passport has at least six months of validity left on the day you land in Thailand, plus one blank page for the entry stamp.
• Carry proof of onward or return travel, since immigration officers can ask Georgian travellers arriving visa-free to show a ticket leaving Thailand within the 30-day stay.
• Keep at least 20,000 THB per person, or 40,000 THB for a family, available in cash or accessible funds, in case Thai immigration carries out a spot check at the border.
• File the Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours of landing — it's free to submit and required of every Georgian entering Thailand, whatever the length of your stay.

Staying longer than 30 days

If 30 days isn't enough, Georgians have a few legitimate ways to stay longer. You can apply for a single extension of up to 30 days at an immigration office inside Thailand before your stamp runs out, for 1,900 THB. If you know in advance that you need more time, applying for an e-Visa through thaievisa.go.th before you travel gives Georgian passport holders 60 days on a single entry, itself extendable once by another 30 days. For remote work or long-term study, the Destination Thailand Visa offers five years of validity in 180-day chunks, provided you can show the required funds. Leaving and re-entering Thailand purely to reset the clock isn't a sound strategy, since land crossings on a visa-free basis are capped at two per calendar year.

At the airport

At Suvarnabhumi, Georgians are not among the nationalities allowed through the automated e-gates, so you'll join the Foreign Passport counters staffed by immigration officers instead. Have your Digital Arrival Card ready, since the QR code it generates is scanned at the counter alongside your passport. The officer checks your passport validity, your entry stamp, and may ask about your onward travel or funds before waving you through. Keeping the QR code accessible on your phone, or printed, speeds up this step for Georgian travellers arriving on a visa-free stamp.
