Thailand visa for Kyrgyz citizens 2026: 30 days visa-free

What changed for Kyrgyz citizens on 15 September 2026

Until 14 September 2026, Kyrgyz passport holders arriving in Thailand without a visa were given 60 days on entry. A Ministry of Interior regulation, published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026 and in force from 15 September 2026, cut that allowance to 30 days for Kyrgyz citizens travelling visa-free. If your passport was stamped before 15 September 2026, the 60-day permission already written into it still stands, so check the date on your existing stamp rather than assuming the new rule applies retroactively. For any Kyrgyz citizen entering from 15 September 2026 onward, plan a trip around a single month rather than two, and look at the extension or e-Visa routes below if you need longer.

Before you fly

• Make sure your Kyrgyz passport has at least six months of validity left on the day you land in Thailand, along with at least one blank page for the entry stamp.
• Carry proof of onward or return travel and be ready to show at least 20,000 THB per person, or 40,000 THB for a family, if an immigration officer asks for evidence of funds.
• File your Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 72 hours of landing, whatever route you take in, since it is required for every Kyrgyz citizen regardless of visa status and costs nothing to submit.
• If you'd rather arrive with a visa already sorted, apply through the e-Visa system before you leave Kyrgyzstan, allowing three to ten working days for it to be processed.

Staying longer than 30 days

If 30 days isn't enough, Kyrgyz citizens who entered visa-free can apply at a Thai immigration office for one extension of up to 30 days, costing 1,900 THB, before the original stamp expires. Applying for an e-Visa before travel instead gives a single-entry 60-day stay, also extendable once by 30 days on the same terms. Kyrgyz citizens planning remote work or a longer course can look at the Destination Thailand Visa, valid five years with stays of up to 180 days per entry, though it requires proof of 500,000 THB in funds and must be arranged before departure. Repeatedly crossing out and back in isn't a substitute for these routes, and land crossings allow only two visa-free entries a year regardless.

At the airport

At Suvarnabhumi, Kyrgyz citizens aren't among the nationalities allowed to use the automated e-gates, so you'll go through the Foreign Passport counters, where an immigration officer checks you in by hand rather than the machine reading your passport. Have the QR code from your Digital Arrival Card ready to show, since it's what gets scanned there alongside your passport. Because Kyrgyz passport holders join the counter queue rather than the gates, it's worth allowing a little extra time after landing before you clear immigration.
