What changed for Lebanese citizens on 15 September 2026

For Lebanese citizens, 15 September 2026 did not bring any new freedom to enter Thailand without paperwork. The passport was never on the list of nationalities allowed to enter visa-free, and it was never included among the countries permitted to obtain a Visa on Arrival — that arrangement now covers only Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia. So while the update reshuffled entry terms for a number of other nationalities, Lebanese passport holders were already required to secure a visa in advance, and that requirement simply carried over unchanged. In practical terms, this means you should plan your trip exactly as you would have before the update: arrange your visa before you travel, because there is no stamp-on-arrival option waiting for you at Thai immigration.

Before you fly

• Check that your Lebanese passport has at least six months of validity remaining on the day you land in Thailand, along with a blank page free for the visa stamp.
• Apply for your e-Visa through thaievisa.go.th before you leave Lebanon, since processing usually takes three to ten working days and covers a single 60-day entry.
• Carry proof of onward or return travel and enough funds to satisfy a spot check, since officers may ask Lebanese citizens to show 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family.
• Fill in the Digital Arrival Card on the Immigration Bureau's portal within 72 hours of landing, then keep the QR code ready to show at the checkpoint.

Staying longer than the visa allows

If a single stamp isn't enough, Lebanese citizens travelling on the tourist e-Visa can apply once for a 30-day extension at an immigration office inside Thailand, for a fee of 1,900 THB. Anyone planning remote work or a longer course of study can instead look at the Destination Thailand Visa, which grants five years of validity with stays of up to 180 days per entry, provided you can show 500,000 THB in funds and apply from outside Thailand before you travel. Whichever route suits your trip, treat it as the only way to add time: leaving and re-entering Thailand to reset your stay is not a substitute for the right visa, and the two-entries-a-year land border allowance applies only to visa-free travellers, not to Lebanese passport holders on a visa.

At the airport

Lebanese citizens are not on the 33-nationality list that gets waved through the automated e-gates at Suvarnabhumi, so you'll queue at the Foreign Passport counters instead. An immigration officer checks your passport and visa there, and scans the QR code from the Digital Arrival Card you filed in the 72 hours before landing. Keep that QR code accessible on your phone or printed, since it's what confirms your arrival details have already been submitted before you reach the counter.
