Thailand visa for Omanis 2026: 30 days visa-free

What changed for Omanis on 15 September 2026

Until 14 September 2026, Omanis arriving in Thailand were stamped in for 60 days without a visa. A Ministry of Interior regulation, published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026 and in force from 15 September 2026, halved that allowance to 30 days. If your passport was stamped before the new rule took effect, the original 60 days in that stamp still stands until it expires. For anyone arriving on or after 15 September 2026, plan around a single month rather than two. This matters most if you are combining Thailand with stops elsewhere in the region, or if you had budgeted extra weeks based on older information about Omani entry terms.

Before you fly

• Check that your Omani passport has at least six months of validity left from your arrival date and one blank page free for the entry stamp, since immigration can refuse boarding without both.
• Carry proof of onward or return travel and be ready to show at least 20,000 THB per person, or 40,000 THB for a family, if an immigration officer asks for a funds check.
• File the Digital Arrival Card in the 72 hours before landing, since every Omani entering Thailand must submit it regardless of visa-free status, and have the QR code ready on your phone.
• If you know you will need more than 30 days, apply for the e-Visa at thaievisa.go.th before you leave Oman, since processing usually takes three to ten working days and cannot be arranged after arrival.

Staying longer than 30 days

If 30 days is not enough, you can apply for a single extension of up to 30 days at an immigration office inside Thailand, for 1,900 THB, before your stamp runs out. Omanis who already know they need two months from the outset can instead apply for the e-Visa before travelling, which grants 60 days on a single entry and can also be extended once by 30 days. Remote workers or those on longer courses may look at the Destination Thailand Visa, valid five years with stays of up to 180 days per entry, though it asks for proof of substantial funds. Leaving Thailand and re-entering just to reset the clock is not a plan, since land crossings on visa-free terms are capped at two per calendar year.

At the airport

At Suvarnabhumi, Omani passports are not among the nationalities cleared for the automatic e-gates, so you will queue at the Foreign Passport counters like most other travellers. An immigration officer checks your passport and stamps you in for your permitted stay. Before reaching the counter, have your Digital Arrival Card ready, since the QR code it generates is what gets scanned at the immigration desk. Keep the code accessible on your phone or printed, alongside your passport, so the check moves quickly.
