Thailand visa for Turkish citizens 2026: 30 days visa-free

What changed for Turkish citizens on 15 September 2026

Before 15 September 2026, Turkish citizens arriving in Thailand without a visa were stamped in for 60 days. A Ministry of Interior regulation, published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026, cut that allowance to 30 days for anyone entering visa-free from 15 September onward. If you were stamped in before that date, your passport keeps the full 60 days already granted — the change only affects entries from 15 September 2026 onward. For a Turkish citizen planning a trip now, this means booking a shorter itinerary, or looking at the extension, the e-Visa, or the Destination Thailand Visa if you need more time than a single 30-day stamp allows.

Before you fly

• Make sure your Turkish passport is valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date and has at least one blank page left for the entry stamp.
• Carry proof of onward or return travel and be ready to show at least 20,000 THB per person, or 40,000 THB for a family, if an immigration officer asks.
• File your Digital Arrival Card in the 72 hours before landing; it applies to every Turkish citizen regardless of how you entered, and the QR code it produces is checked at immigration.
• If you would rather arrive with a 60-day single-entry stamp instead of the 30-day visa-free allowance, apply for the e-Visa at thaievisa.go.th several days ahead, since processing usually takes 3 to 10 working days.

Staying longer than 30 days

If a 30-day stamp is not enough, Turkish citizens have a few legitimate options rather than repeated border runs. You can apply for one extension of up to 30 days at an immigration office inside Thailand for 1,900 THB, filed before your stamp expires. If you know before departure that you need longer, the e-Visa gives a single entry of 60 days, also extendable once for 1,900 THB. For remote work or a long course of study, the Destination Thailand Visa runs for five years, with stays of up to 180 days per entry, provided you can show 500,000 THB in funds. Leaving and re-entering purely to reset the clock is not a real substitute for these routes, and land crossings are capped at two visa-free entries a year.

At the airport

At Suvarnabhumi, Turkish citizens are not among the nationalities allowed through the automatic gates, so you will queue at the Foreign Passport counters like most other travellers. An immigration officer checks your passport and stamps it there. Have your Digital Arrival Card ready on your phone, since the QR code it generates is scanned at the counter alongside your passport. Keep proof of onward travel and enough funds available in case an officer asks to see them before you are waved through.
