Thailand visa for Azerbaijanis 2026: Visa on Arrival

What changed for Azerbaijanis on 15 September 2026

Until 15 September 2026, Azerbaijani travellers already held Visa on Arrival, and the new Ministry of Interior regulation published in the Royal Gazette kept that arrangement in place even as it stripped the concession from 28 other nationalities, narrowing the list to just Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia. For a trip from Azerbaijan, the practical effect is continuity rather than change: you still land without a pre-approved visa, present your documents at the Foreign Passport counters, and pay the 2,000 THB fee in cash before the officer stamps you in for 15 days. What did shift is the company you keep at the counter — most other nationalities that used to queue alongside Azerbaijanis for Visa on Arrival must now arrange a visa before flying, so expect a smaller, quieter line built mainly around these three passports.

Before you fly

• Check that your Azerbaijani passport has at least six months of validity left on the day you land in Thailand, plus one blank page for the arrival stamp.
• Carry proof of onward travel and enough visible funds, since immigration officers can ask for 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family during a spot check.
• File your Digital Arrival Card in the 72 hours before your flight lands, using the Immigration Bureau's online portal, and keep the QR code ready to show at the border.
• If you would rather not queue for Visa on Arrival, or you need more than 15 days, apply for the 60-day tourist e-Visa at thaievisa.go.th several working days before you fly.

Staying longer than 15 days

The 15-day Visa on Arrival stamp cannot be extended at an immigration office, so plan ahead if your trip needs more time. The straightforward option is the 60-day tourist e-Visa, applied for online before departure and extendable once by 30 days for 1,900 THB once you are in Thailand. Azerbaijanis working remotely or on a long course can instead consider the Destination Thailand Visa, a five-year permit allowing up to 180 days per entry against a 10,000 THB fee and proof of 500,000 THB in funds, arranged from outside Thailand. Leaving and re-entering purely to restart the clock isn't a working strategy, since the twice-yearly land border limit applies only to visa-exempt entries, not to a Visa on Arrival stamp.

At the airport

Azerbaijanis are not among the nationalities allowed to use the automated e-gates at Suvarnabhumi, so head for the Foreign Passport counters and expect a face-to-face check with an immigration officer. There, you present your Azerbaijani passport, the cash fee for Visa on Arrival, and the QR code generated when you filed your Digital Arrival Card, which the officer scans alongside your documents before stamping you in for 15 days.
