Thailand visa for Serbians 2026: Visa on Arrival
Serbians do not need to apply for a visa before flying to Thailand: a Visa on Arrival stamp is issued at the airport, valid for 15 days. This has been the case since 15 September 2026, when the Visa on Arrival scheme was cut to just three countries, Serbia among them.

What changed for Serbians on 15 September 2026
On 15 September 2026 Thai authorities narrowed the Visa on Arrival list from 31 nationalities to three, following a Ministry of Interior regulation published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026. Serbia was one of the three passports kept on the list, alongside Azerbaijan and Belarus, while 28 other nationalities lost access to Visa on Arrival altogether. For Serbians, the practical effect is that nothing changes at the airport: you can still land in Thailand without a visa arranged in advance and pay 2,000 THB in cash on arrival for a 15-day stamp. What has changed is the company Serbian passport holders keep on the list, now far shorter than before, and the reminder that the rule could tighten again.
Before you fly
- Check that your Serbian passport has at least six months of validity left from your arrival date and one blank page free for the entry stamp, since Thai immigration checks both before letting you through.
- Carry enough cash or proof of funds, since Thai immigration can ask Serbians to show 20,000 THB per person, or 40,000 THB for a family, during a spot check on arrival.
- File the Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours of landing; it is free through the Immigration Bureau's portal and applies to every Serbian passport holder regardless of visa status.
- If you plan to stay longer than 15 days, sort out a 60-day tourist e-Visa through thaievisa.go.th before you leave Serbia, since a Visa on Arrival stamp cannot be extended once you land.
Staying longer than 15 days
The 15-day Visa on Arrival stamp cannot be extended, so if you already know your stay will run longer, apply for the 60-day tourist e-Visa through thaievisa.go.th before you leave Serbia; it is processed in roughly 3 to 10 working days and can be extended once by 30 days at a Thai immigration office. Serbians working remotely or enrolled on a long course can instead look at the five-year Destination Thailand Visa, which allows stays of up to 180 days per entry but requires proof of 500,000 THB in funds and must be arranged from outside Thailand. Leaving Thailand and coming straight back on a fresh Visa on Arrival stamp is not a dependable way to stretch a trip; sorting the right visa before departure is simpler.
At the airport
At Suvarnabhumi, Serbians are not among the nationalities allowed through the automated arrival gates, so head for the Foreign Passport counters instead and expect an immigration officer to check your passport in person. Have the QR code from your Digital Arrival Card ready on your phone or printed out, since officers scan it alongside your passport before stamping you in for your 15 days. Keep the passport six-month validity and blank page in mind at this stage too.
