Thailand visa for Bosnians 2026: e-Visa needed

What changed for Bosnians on 15 September 2026

Until 14 September 2026, a Bosnian passport let you fly to Thailand and receive 60 days on arrival with no paperwork done in advance. That came from a wider exemption covering dozens of nationalities, granted in July 2024 and withdrawn on 15 September 2026, because Bosnia and Herzegovina was left off the shorter list of 60 countries kept visa-free afterwards. For a trip now, the practical effect is that the free stamp on landing is gone: you need a visa, most straightforwardly the e-Visa, arranged and approved before you leave home, not something you can sort out at the airport. Airline staff check for a valid visa or approval at check-in, so arriving without one risks being turned away at boarding rather than dealt with on arrival in Thailand.

Before you fly

• Check that your Bosnian passport has at least six months of validity left on your arrival date and at least one blank page, since Thai immigration checks both before letting you through.
• Apply for your e-Visa through thaievisa.go.th before you travel, allowing roughly 3 to 10 working days for processing, since Bosnians can no longer get a visa on arrival at a Thai airport.
• Keep evidence of onward travel and around 20,000 THB per person (or 40,000 THB for a family) accessible, as immigration officers sometimes ask Bosnian travellers to show proof of funds.
• Complete the Digital Arrival Card within 72 hours of landing, since every Bosnian passport holder must submit it regardless of visa type, then have the QR code ready for immigration to scan.

Staying longer than the visa allows

If 60 days on the e-Visa isn't enough, Bosnians can extend once for a further 30 days at an immigration office for 1,900 THB, which covers most longer holidays. For remote work or an extended course of study, the Destination Thailand Visa gives five years of validity with stays of up to 180 days each entry, though it asks for proof of 500,000 THB in funds and must be arranged from outside Thailand. Bear in mind that the twice-a-year land border allowance only ever applied to visa-exempt entries, so repeated border crossings are not a way to keep renewing a Thai stay once you're holding a visa; extending properly or applying for the right visa category from the start is the workable route.

At the airport

Bosnians aren't included among the nationalities allowed to use the automated e-gates at Suvarnabhumi, so head for the Foreign Passport counters instead and expect an officer to check your passport in person. Have the QR code from your Digital Arrival Card ready on your phone or printed out, since it gets scanned at the immigration desk alongside your passport and visa. The same counters apply whether you're travelling on an e-Visa, the Destination Thailand Visa, or another category, so budget a little extra time compared with gate users.
