Thailand visa guides 2026

For a long stay, remote work or a Thai course, look at the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). For a holiday, use visa-free entry or a tourist visa. These guides cover both, with the rules each Thai embassy states on its own page and the date we read it.

How the process works

  1. Choose the visa that fits your plan.
  2. Find the Thai embassy that covers your country. See embassies.
  3. Collect the documents it lists, with clear scans. See documents.
  4. Create an account on thaievisa.go.th, upload the files and pay the fee.
  5. Wait for the embassy's decision. Processing times differ by post.

Before you start

  1. Rules differ by embassy. Read the page of your own post and check its date.
  2. Fees, funds and certificate ages are not the same everywhere.
  3. No one can promise approval. The embassy decides.

Not sure which visa you need? Run the DTV pre-check or the tourist visa pre-check.
